How to Get Sponsors for Pickleball

Learn how to create a clear pickleball sponsorship opportunity, identify local business fit, make a focused request, and deliver sponsor benefits.

To get pickleball sponsors, begin by defining one real need and one clear way a business can participate. A sponsor may provide money, products, services, prizes, food, equipment, or another useful resource. In return, the organization provides agreed recognition, access, placement, or community involvement. The terms should be specific before either side commits.

Use a simple five-step process

Step What to do What to document
Define the need Decide what the sponsorship will support. A short description, amount or item needed, and timeline.
Identify inventory List the things you can responsibly offer. Each placement, activity, or recognition item.
Build the opportunity Turn the inventory into one or more clear choices. Audience, deliverables, contribution, dates, and availability.
Find suitable businesses Focus on service-area fit, relevance, and existing connections. A small prospect list and the reason each business may fit.
Fulfill and report Deliver each agreed item and gather proof. A checklist, screenshots or photos, and a short recap.

Start smaller than you think

A first sponsorship can be a single court sign, an event prize, water for participants, a website feature, or support for one clinic. Starting with a manageable package helps you learn what the organization can deliver consistently. It also gives a sponsor a clear, low-complexity way to participate.

Make the business case clear

Do not lead only with the fact that your organization needs money. Explain the local setting, who participates, what support is needed, and what the sponsor receives. A business may value community support, local visibility, a customer offer, product use, or direct event contact. Do not assume those goals. Ask questions and adapt the opportunity where practical.

USA Pickleball’s event-operator guidance similarly begins with the organizer’s needs and goals, including a decision about cash versus in-kind support. [5]
